Hello guys. My name is Tyrell Austin andtoday we're going to go on tour. Follow me. So, here we have our StudentFinancial Services office. If you need any help with any billing maybe you got aparking ticket, which hopefully you don't, get, or if you're just curious aboutanything on this campus, they're gonna be your one-stop shop for everything youmight need. As we continue on you're going to see the Office of Scholarshipsand Financial Aid.
So if you have any questions about scholarships, loans maybe that FAFSA that can be pretty tricky you can go ahead and walk on itand they can help you with anything that you might need.With the Financial Aidoffice, they actually can help you with the walk-in or you can go ahead and makean appointment. So as long as you go to the door here to my right you can alwayswalk into the Office of Scholarships and Financial Aid and someone will be readyto assist you.
If you do have any questions about students about student employment, they can also answer all those questions as well. So, the second floor is actually theAdmissions floor. So, anything admissions related will actually be done in thatsecond floor. Any application questions anything you might have if you justcalled (231) 591-2000 any of us will be able toassist you.
Heading to the third floor is actually the president's office. So, President David Eisler is located on that third floor but also iffor the testing center that is also where that can be found. If you arelooking to take a CLEP test, a college-level examination program test, again on the third floor of Timme, and then we do have an old history museum of Ferris State located up there as well.
Follow me on to the next stop. to the library. Welcome to FLITE, which stands for theFerris Library for Information, Technology and Education, very long name and so that's why we call it FLITE. So, here in FLITE located on throughout the building we have to haveabout 200 computers.A hundred those computers actually we found there onthat first floor.
You can tell as you walk down. Also on the first flooris our Academic Support Center. So, if you need any tutoring we offer free tutoringfor all subjects and classes here at Ferris.We also have a Writing Center. So if you need help writing your paper maybe don't know where to begin oryou just want something to look it over they can also do that as well for you.
Heading up to the second floor which is the floor we are on now um there's justadditional seating and some really comfortable spaces where students goahead and study and do their homework. Heading to the third floor. The thirdfloor isn't all quiet floors so all students must remain peaceful and quietthroughout the day and if you need that certain quiet space to study the thirdfloor has got your back.
On all that is FLITE. Also located in FLITE is the Office of Multicultural Student Services, otherwise known as OMSS. So, if you are looking for a diversity and inclusion event, this is the office that's going to put all those up. Follow me to our next stop. Follow me on to our next stop, which is going to be North Hall. And, welcome to North Hall.
North Hall is actually our newest residence hall we have here at Ferris State University. Inorder to gain access into any of our halls here on campus, you do have to useyour student ID card to swipe on in. In order to get into our residence hallsyou do have to be a resident living in that Hall as all of our residence hallshere are locked 24/7 and only those residents living in those halls gain access into them.
Follow me and I'll show you one of the residence hall rooms So here in North Hall our layout is setup a little bit different compared to the rest of the residence halls. So as welook throughout this room will see that these beds are already pre locked up forstudents so you actually don't have to worry about that.
If you do want do notwant that pre-lock, just contact Housing and they canactually go ahead and lower that pre-lock for you. With the pre-locks, they aretwin-sized beds so you won't have to worry about buying to an twin XL sheets oranything like that they're just your standard twins that we have here atFerris.
We also have two desks as well as two three drawerdrawers. So if you do want to cram some clothes in you can also do that and thenwe also have our two wardrobes located in here as well. If you would like tomove any of the furniture here in these rooms you're more than welcome to do so.
They just ask that you move back at the end of the year. And they'll give youa little sheet and graph to do so. If you do want to buy some curtains to hangover your windows you are also more than welcome to do that other than that thisis room here at North Hall.
Also located in the residence halls is the bathroomwith those bathrooms all of our halls here are suite style so it'll be twopeople sharing a room with another two people on the opposite side of thebathroom.So four people are altogether going to be sharing that bathroom thereusually is a door located on the other side of the bathroom but because this isa demo room you only have a half sized bathroomother than that the bathrooms about twice that size.
As we make our way you'll see that there isa big kitchen located here on this first floor. This first floor houses ourfull-size kitchen and this is open for all residents in this hall to bakea cake cook something maybe you want to makesome ramen you're always more than welcome to do that.
You'll see also in theseresidence halls we do have some activities located here so if you wantto play with anything you can get those at that front desk there and use yourstudent ID as collateral and they can get you whatever you might need. As we continue to keep walking younotice to my right that there are some classes.
Those classrooms are located forstudents here in North Hall as we will have some classes here. The good thingabout those classes if you are living here at North Hall you can just jump outof bed and straight to class and you're good to go.
Here's one of our smaller studentrecreational facilities. So, here if you want to work on some cardio maybe jumpon a treadmill. You're more than welcome to do that.Only the residents in this hall though can gain access into this little area. Another thing I did want to mention is we do have some game systems, some videogames, game boards. So if you do get bored you want to play maybe on a rainy daythe front desk also has that for you and then we also have some baking utensilsas well so if you do want to cook or if you want to go ahead and be wipe somestuff down bake a cake again for your friend we do have all of those utensilsand things you might need located at that front desk.
Follow me down to ournext stop which is the University Center. And, welcome to the University Center. University Center is actually one of oursecond newest buildings we have to run campus. Over here on the side we have about four big ballrooms. Those ballrooms do house a lot of specialevents that do go on throughout this university.
If you want to continue following me. For orientationmaybe you're going to an admitted student open house, or Dawg Day, event those arealso going to be located here as long as this long hallway. Over here to the other side is our FSU Fine Art Gallery.
So, if you are an art person maybe you want to look at someart you are more than welcome to go in there and it is completely free and theydo actually showcase not only students art but since we do own KendallCollege of Art Design, you'll see some of those students art as well.
Located right here behind youthere's one rep record to be up here on campus. We do have two, We have the Rock Cafe as well as the Quad Cafe. Those two are actually our only dining facilities wedo have on this campus. All of our dining plans here are completely unlimited.
You can literally eat there fifty seven times a day if you'd like you just haveto wait 30 minutes between swipes in order to gain access into any of thesedining facilities we have our campus. Located next to that is the Quad FoodCourt, which is more of an ala carte options. So, if you're lookingfor something quick to go you're more than welcome to find that over there inthe Quad Food Court. Lets continue on.
Coming downstairs, we actually do have a nap pod. So, if you do want to take a nap here in the University Center you aremore than welcome to do so because we actually have a space that requires youto do some. Located beside me is the CLACS office. As we see, there stands for Center for Leadership, Activities and Career Services.
So, if you are looking for any leave any leadership activitiesmaybe some conferences check out the CLACS office as they can help you preparefor that as well. Activities? We do have over 220 differentregistered student organizations here on this campus and those range fromanything to academic-based, faith-based social-based or anything in between. Career Services.
That's probably by far one of the most important aspects ofthat office. With career services that maybe you've never had a resume made,maybe you just want to look down brushed up, they can help you with that in thereas well they can also help you with some mock interviews.
So, if you've never hadan interview a day in your life that is alright they can sit you down have thatinterview with you so that way when the time comes you are more than ready forthat interview. Lets continue on. We look here and you notice this is a FerrisState University Bookstore.
So if you are looking for any Ferris apparel, any swag, maybe its graduation time and you're looking for graduation close. You can find those here at the Ferris State University Bookstore. Located right next to the bookstore is ourStarbucks. So, if you are a caffeine person, we do have Starbucks located right here in the University Center.
All of this University Center really is just a place or aspace for students to chill, hang out in between classes and study. You'll notice that the StudentTechnology Services office, otherwise known as the STS. It is located in theUniversity Center as well. So, if you do need any help with anything from yourcomputers maybe you broke your screen anything like that they can help you outin there as well.
We do also have some nice massage chairs. So, if you want toget a massage in before class starts you can also do that. Other than thatthat is the University Center. Let's keep going. And welcome to the Student RecreationCenter. Follow me. So here in the Student Recreation Centerwe do have a lot of things for students to enjoy here. As you can tell we do havefour full-size basketball courts one of which is always set up with thevolleyball net. So students you want to play somevolleyball they're more than welcome to do so.
If that volleyball net though isnot set up just ask anybody at that front desk and they can go ahead and setit up for you. Over to the side of me we do actually have a two and a half storyrock climbing wall over there by that door that ranges from all types oflevels so if you're a beginner or an expert we do have something in there foryou. As we head up here we actually have an indoor here that indoor track is oneeighth of a mile so every eight laps for you is gonna be that one mile for you.
Soas we look throughout here, you know this this is our cardio room. So if youare looking for some free weight machines maybe you're looking for someellipticals, or treadmill, you're actually going to find that here right on thesecond floor of the Student Recreation Center. As you're looking you can also see thatwe do have that indoor track for students. This indoor track is one eighth of amile.
So, every eight laps is going to be that one mile for students. So, if you arelooking to run indoors while it's super snowy outside the recreation center hasyou covered in that way. Also in the Student Center we do have a jacuzzi. It fits up to 12people. So, if you wanna de-stress after midterms or finals, definitely a goodplace to do that. Then, we also have our half-size Olympic swimming pool.
So, if you do enjoy some water sports or some swimming you can also do that here at our StudentRecreation Center, and lastly in the Student Recreation Center we do have ourweightlifting room. It is completely brand new everythinghere has been renovated. So, let's check it out. All righty ... let's head on to our laststop of the day, Pickell Hall.
All right, welcome to Pickell Hall. Pickell is one of our traditional residence halls here on campus. As we gothroughout campus and as you kind of seen already you'll see that most of ourhalls are this traditional style. The only new newest hall we have is North Hall,which we did view moments later on. So, as we walk into this room here you'll seethe more traditional style this year is usually typically a bunk bed so in thesetraditional residence halls we do have that standard soft bed for you againit's going to be a twin and then all of our residence halls here our suites style, from one room here connected to a bathroom with the other side.
In herethough you do see that we have two wardrobes here still for students aswell as the storage dresser and then we do have two desks and chairs that arenormally in these residence halls. As we make our way to the bathroomyou'll see this is going to be kind of a bathroom set up here. It will be firstcome first go unless you go in so whoever gets to the bathroom first we'llgo ahead and get it. These residence halls though since theyare residence halls and not dormitories do not share common bathrooms.
We justhave this bathroom set up or its suite style for two people share the bathroomwith the others two people. We do have these lofts though so if you do want to build yourown loft you are more than welcome to do so we have all of our measurementsonline. But if you're not woodsy, or arts,y or handsy, like me,um that's alright ... Lowe's or any hardware store off campus does actually havethese kits ready and available for you to do yourself.
Alright so this is one of our laundry rooms here in one of our residence halls. So, as you can tell we do have washers and dryers here for students. In all the residence halls, students do get apre-loaded $90 laundry card. That will get you about two washes and two dries a week.
It should last you all year long. If it doesn't last you all year long, go to Student Financial Services office then go ahead and putsome more money on there for you. Also in the halls, we do have kitchenettes sometimes attached to the laundry rooms and those are located on every floor orevery other floor for our students. So, in Pickell, we do also have an honors lounge.
So, in thisHonors Lounge you'll see throughout we do actually have a little bit of akitchenette so if you do want to make some stat is something while you'restudying you're more than welcome to do that you'll see there's a bunch oftables here so if we do want to form some study groups who are also more thanwelcome to do that. There are some games and activities to kind of help studentsto stress a little bit during their studies, but any Honors student here on our campus is more than welcome to go ahead and use this lounge and utilize it.
